Rose M. van Hemert Chvasta, President
Rose van Hemert Chvasta as president oversees all aspects of a full-service salon. An aesthetician with more than 30 years experience, Rose was born in the United States and raised in The Netherlands. She was licensed and practiced the art of being an aesthetician, massage therapist, electrologist, chiropodist (attends to foot problems), manicurist and certified make-up artist. In addition, Rose is an internationally recognized expert in the complete field of beauty and aesthetics, including techniques and treatments, and product and equipment knowledge. She has been conducting educational seminars and trade shows for other professionals in the United States and Europe since 1990.

In 1980, Rose opened her first skin care studio in her home in Rotterdam, allowing her to work while raising two young daughters. After the van Hemert Chvasta family moved to the United States in 1986, they established their salon in Leetsdale, Pennsylvania the following year specializing in skin and nail care. In 2001, Chvasta opened an expanded day spa, parfumerie and training center for beauty professionals in Moon Township.
The company grew to become an international distributor of HYLUNIA skin care products in 1990. In 1998, Chvasta began importing salon and spa equipment, becoming one of the first to bring Micro-dermabrasion technology to the United States. In 2002, the salon/distributor, diversified into BIOMARIS, a European, sea-water based face and body care line that produces exceptional healing and moisturizing results for all skin types. BIOMARIS was sold in fine spas and salons worldwide.
In 1999, Rose was inducted into the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) Esthetics Americas and awarded the Esthetics Emeritus distinction, which is the highest degree granted in the United States in the field of aesthetics. That year, she also earned the honor of CIDESCO Diplomate.

Joyce N. Cobourne, Vice-President
Joyce Cobourne, Rose and Will’s daughter, received her skin care license from Pittsburgh Beauty Academy in 1994 and immediately trained with Rose in the European-style of skin care treatment and technique. In 1997, Joyce became a full-time aesthetician after graduating from Penn State University, State College, Pennsylvania, with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders.
She is a 1993 graduate of Quaker Valley High School, Leetsdale, Pennsylvania and served in the United States Army reserves as a combat medic from 1992-2000. In 2003, she received a master’s of business administration degree from Robert Morris University, Moon Township.

Joyce is a respected educator on Micro-dermabrasion, Non-surgical Facelift treatments and various facial and body care services that address the needs of all skin types and conditions. She has presented at educational seminars and trade shows worldwide. Through her extensive experience in performing these treatments, she has developed expert techniques that help maximize the treatment benefits while preventing potential problems.

Robert F. Cobourne Jr., VP - Operations and Finance
Robert, Joyce's husband, is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in History, and Slippery Rock University with a Certification in Secondary Education.
Having joined the business in April, Robert's duties include accounting, marketing, and operations for the salon. Robert also serves as webmaster for the Chvasta European Skin Care website.

Wendy R. Kress
Rose and Will’s younger daughter Wendy graduated from Beaver Falls Beauty Academy, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, in 1996 and has since worked as a licensed manicurist and receptionist. She is a 1998 graduate of Quaker Valley High School, and in 2002, she graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice and a minor in Sociology. In 2010, Wendy earned her aesthetics license and currently assists Rose and Joyce with facial, body and nail care services.
In addition to aesthetics and managerial duties, she takes an active role in customer service and the promotion of the HYLUNIA and Sea of Beauty product lines. As an expert in product knowledge, she has educated sales staff, beauty professionals and salon clients at training sessions, tradeshows and conferences nationwide.

Chvasta European Skin Care was honored in 2003, 2004 and 2005 as the Best Day Spa in Moon Township and was nominated for the Best Small Business of Allegheny County award. Also, the salon was recently honored by the Sewickley Patch as the Best Day Spa in the Sewickley Valley in 2012. Currently, the salon is also a member of the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) and CIDESCO.
Following the legacy established by Rose, the staff is trained according to CIDESCO standards, continuing a life-long commitment to education and expertise in the fields of total wellness, skin care, and beauty.

Willem van Hemert IV served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Chvasta European Skin Care from 1986 to 2011. Sadly, the van Hemert- Cobourne family suffered the devastating loss of their wonderful husband, father and opa in April of 2011. Willy was good-hearted, loving, supportive and fun; his loss will be felt forever. He will be missed immensely but always remain in the hearts of his family!
